Me and my Fiance and our 18 month old have been here twice and each time, the staff, the owner & his wife are all so friendly!! The food is delish and always fresh. Highly recommend!!

Very disappointing experience, especially since this was our first time visiting this restaurant.
I ordered a pita sandwich, and unfortunately, almost everything about it was disappointing. The pita bread was badly burnt, and the chicken was extremely dry. My son's calamari was slso over fried. On top of that, I had to wait around 40 minutes for my order, eventhough we were the only table being served—there was one other table occupied, but they were done eating snd about to leave.
Again highly disappointing experience and certainly not going back there...

Went here for breakfast. The portions were very good, and everything was cooked perfectly. Everyone working was extremely friendly and helpful. If you have a larger group make a reservation. Worth stopping in for any meal.

Falafel pita, lemon potatoes, and sangria. Red sangria was delicious not overly sweet. Falafel was crispy. Generous portions. They also gave pita bread and tzatziki for the table before you order. Loved everything.

I've lived in PJV my whole life and have loved Joey Z's since I can remember. Way back when I was a kid, I had my Mom take me in for their veggie burger platter several times per week. The staff always made me feel so special and grown up.
Now I am a grown up and I still love Joey Z's just as much. I am a "regular" of sorts but most recently have been ordering a lot of take out because I have been recovering from surgery and an illness as well, both made it a little challenging to shop and cook for myself. But Joey Z's is coming in clutch! It's so important to eat well when you're recovering/sick (enough food, enough protein, lots of nutrients) and it would have been challenging to do so without Joey Z's in the village.
Their portions are so generous, I can often order 2 dishes (usually and omelette and a mediterranean special) and have it last me for a few meals at least. Their omelettes are tiers above standard diner fare, and their home fries are seasoned cut baby potatoes which is my personal favorite kind of breakfast potato. They have a few unique omelette choices and their other egg dishes are also top tier.
Their mediterranean specials are *incredibly* good. Massive portions, savory and umami. My favorite so far has been the saganaki meal, I had never had saganaki cheese before and it's really a treat. It's wonderful that each meal comes with basmati rice and some mixed grilled veggies, somehow it makes it feel more homemade and balanced.
The takeout is packaged with such care and consideration, they make even a GrubHub delivery feel like they took the time to show you they wanted you to have a delicious meal.
Being a PJer 💜 my whole life I also want to add how much the owner and his family do for the village, the school district and the community and what all around lovely people they are. While the incredible food and attention to detail and their customers will always keep people coming back, for me there's something really rewarding about giving back to a small business that gives so much to PJV 💜

I went to Joey Z Restaurant with my son for Mother’s Day after taking the ferry to Port Jefferson, and we had such a great experience. I forgot to make a reservation, but the owner and servers were so kind and welcoming to us. The food, atmosphere, and customer service were amazing. I truly appreciated how nice everyone was, and it made our Mother’s Day even more special. I will definitely be back and will be recommending you guys to my coworkers and friends!

We had an outstanding experience at Joey Z's celebrating a milestone with my wife, Therese, and my brother-in-law, Stephen.
Therese and Stephen both ordered the **bottomless mussels**, and they were excellent—large, meaty, and perfectly cooked every time. Each bowl was generous, and our server checked in multiple times to offer refills, which really stood out. The sauce was flavorful and paired perfectly with the homemade garlic bread.
I ordered the **gyro dinner**, which is always consistent and on point. The beef and lamb were seasoned just right, and the vegetables were crisp, fresh, and well-prepared.
We finished with Joey’s rice pudding, which was the perfect ending to a great meal.
Even though we were one of the later tables, we never felt rushed. The service was attentive, and Joey’s tableside conversation adds a personal touch you don’t find often anymore. That kind of hands-on ownership makes a big difference in the overall dining experience.
It’s easy to see why Joey Z’s has been a **Port Jefferson staple for over 28 years**. If you’re looking for a **casual dining spot in Port Jefferson** with great food, generous portions, and excellent service, this is the place. You can’t go wrong for **breakfast, lunch, or dinner**.

Breakfast or dinner you will not be disappointed. Today I had breakfast for the first time at Joey Z's. I had the breakfast bowl, eggs, bacon, Swiss cheese, homefries, NO peppers, onions only. It was perfectly cooked & delicious. I also had the French Toast with blueberries, excellent! No disappointment here. I have to say breakfast at Joey Z's blows away any diner breakfast. Sooo good, fresh & cooked properly. Breakfast is from 930am to 4pm. Don't waste any time just go!

We have been coming here for many years. I just celebrated my birthday with my family tonight and it was GREAT as usual. The atmosphere is so cozy with the little twinkling lights hanging from the ceiling and the soft music in the background. Joey greeted us and made conversation with us multiple times, what a nice, decent good man. We enjoyed his conversations and the food was fabulous, started off with their famous fresh Greek salad with a touch of dill, then the main course was stuffed chicken with spinach and feta topped with red sauce accompanied with mixed vegetables and lemon pepper potatoes. Everything was so good. The waitresses were exceptional, they sang happy birthday to me with an on the house dessert for me and my family. Overall what a wonderful experience, food, atmosphere, service and Joey's warmthness was appreciated. This is my favorite restaurant by far. Thank you for a memorable birthday!!!

Tayler is the manager at Joey Zs. As a customer service coach and trainer I must say, I will be back not only bc the food was fresh and delicious but the outstanding customer service and care that was provided was above and beyond! My wife and I stopped by for lunch today. It really is one of the best restaurants for breakfast and lunch in the area. I'm sure dinner is great also, but we haven't tried it yet. Our server Emelyn was wonderful. Our glasses were never empty, and we never had to look for her. The food was fantastic and at a very fair price.

It was a beautiful day in Port Jeff. We enjoyed lunch at an outside table. Our server was attentive. The food was excellent as usual. The portions are generous so we were able to bring some home for another meal. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Went there for dinner on a Saturday night. Service was great, food excellent and plentiful. The owner, Joey, was very personable and was walking around talking to customers. The butternut squash soup is delicious. It's Joey's mother's recipe.

Arrived at 5 p.m. on a Saturday. There were three tables taken. 15 minutes later the place was packed. Atmosphere is surprisingly quiet and very welcoming. The owner made a few passes to make sure everything was good. Food was delicious. We ordered Chicken and eggplant parm, fries and cocktails. Everything was superb.
Our waiter did an excellent job addressing our needs without seeming nosy. My only regret is that I didn’t get the waiters name to express my thanks.

First timers and we will absolutely be back! Took the folks for dinner tonight and we all loved our entres apps and drinks. Wait staff were excellent. The Chilean Sea Bass over escarole and beans was out of this world; filet mignon was cooked perfectly and tender as butter; stuffed mushrooms so damn yummy! See you again soon!

Quiet restaurant with polite staff- Food portions are good- prices very reasonable. Atmosphere makes me feel like im away on vacation - had the gyro with sweet potato fries- fried calamari as appetizer was great- table had shish kebab filet mignon, philly cheesesteak panini, greek salad were had by rest of our table and all food looked and tastes good. Highly recommend.

My favorite restaurant! Meals are consistently fabulous, with fresh ingredients, prepared with artistry and care; the service is excellent; and the ambience is cozy and chic. Joey Z's serves a variety of appetizers, entrees, specials and desserts - from Greek to Italian to American - and even a Pizza Menu and Fondue Menu! All expertly prepared and presented. My favorite restaurant in Port Jefferson Long Island. We celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary and Valentines Day 2025 here.
We both love the fresh pasta dinners with momma Z's meatball and filet mignon with baked potatoe and veggies. We usually order the New York cheese cake and tiramisu for dessert.
I especially love the peaceful atmosphere and 70's vibe music played here.
Joey Z's is the perfect place for pizza, burgers or fine dinning. Whatever event you're celebrating😉 let them know, they will certainly celebrate 🍾 with you.

My boyfriend and I have come here for three straight Valentine’s Days in a row and we never wanna break the tradition! Joey himself is so so nice, we’ve had the same waitress, Tommie, who remembered us! And she’s so sweet😊. The place is decorated beautifully with lights as well. Also please please try the fondue here! It’s hard to find such an amazing fondue place around my area but this place checks all the marks. If you don’t enjoy I would literally eat my boyfriend, that’s how confident I am. If you don’t try this place at LEAST once you’re highly missing out! ❤️

The food, especially the Chernobyl sized capers in the piccata, was great! Portions are likewise on the larger side, so be prepared and bring an appetite! Seriously, the great Italian standards with some Greek flair, make this a reliable, delicious stop in downtown Port Jeff!

I stop by almost every two weeks; lately just for their amazing pancakes. Really hits after drunk-hiking Pirate’s Cove. Never met a friendlier staff. Quick service, and the best pancakes ever! I love their pizzas as well. Have had their Gyro dinner before and it got me hooked on this place. I also just love the cozy, calm atmosphere. My favorite restaurant.

The owner is almost always on the premises and hands-on. He's not hiding in the back and avoiding the customers. He is the most appreciative man and shows his customers that he appreciates them. We went to this place because of the high Google ratings, but I’m bewildered. The food - 2 vegetarian omelettes, blueberry pancake, and mimosa - was just okay, not awful, but far from special. The staff was kind and professional and I dig the “race has no place” atmosphere, but not sure I’ll be back.

Orders for a date night at home, souvlaki dinner with a Greek salad and the Greek pizza. To die for! Quick delivery and they forgot my salad and brought it back to my house within 5 minutes. Delicious, amazing staff and service. Wont disappoint!!!

Sean was our wonderful waiter, he engaged in conversation with my uncle, very friendly fellow… He made sure we were take care of. There are very pretty lights hanging from the ceiling and Christmas music playing, creating a cozy environment. It was very crowded, make a reservation! (Even though we did not, we were still able to be seated after a short wait) It felt so nice to walk into the heated building after being in the freezing cold. We were met with a very friendly staff and very clean table. Delicious apps, multicultural menu. Enjoyed our entrees! Overall had a great experience.

Service was amazing! Despite the very packed restaurant we were well tended to and our sever Sean always checked in with us. The environment was warm and welcoming with lovely lights lining the ceiling and very very friendly staff. The food was excellent and there was much variety in cuisine. The servers and staff were all very polite and amazing at their jobs. Overall would recommend!

We were greeted by a young man who was very much on top of it, I believe his name was Taylor. His eye on every table as he walked to the kitchen and eye on every table as he re-entered the dining room. He was so focused on the “WHOLE”.
Our server was Sammy; HAPPY, competent and energetic and appropriately conversational .
We came once before with a larger group of friends from Queens and everyone had an excellent time. The food was excellent and hot nothing cold that should not have been so, right down to the smoked salmon and fresh lettuce and tomato and onions.
Today maryann had a beautiful omelette, and for me, a Gyro, the lettuce, onion, and tomato on the Gyro , so fresh & the meat was delicious and the sauce, fantastic.

We stopped by Joe's today for dinner for the first time - followed the great reviews. We love mediterranean food. But For us, it was a bit of a miss. 😔 for positives -Tommy was a wonderful server. Very attentive. Salmon was excellent. Pizza was ok. Lemon potatoes were just ok. Saganaki was not edible. Shrimp cocktail was ok, but the shrimp were not deveined properly. Tomatoe eggplant pizza was alright but cold. We expected so much more given the reviews. We wish it was better experience but it wasn't. Perhaps just a bad day.

Joey Z's is a nice spot in downtown Port Jeff. The food is good with very large portions, and the service is very friendly. I had the steak kebabs for my main, shrimp cocktail for an appetizer, and for dessert the rice pudding, all of which was delicious. 92/100 A

Who doesn’t like chocolate fondue? This is one of our favorite locations for fondue. Joey Z’s is a staple of the community, it no surprise they have great fondue! Their fondue service is well worth the price; it comes with a healthy portion of different fruit and snacks to dip. Next time you go to Joey Z’s, order the fondue!
